The 12 Steps and Life

  1. Loved One admitted their lack of power over ____________________ – that life had become unmanageable.
  2. Loved One came to believe that a Power greater than Loved One could restore them to sanity.
  3. Loved One made a decision to turn their will and their life over to the care of God as Loved One understood Him.
  4. Loved One made a searching and fearless moral inventory of Loved One.
  5. Loved One admitted to God, to themself, and to another human being the exact nature of their wrongs.
  6. Loved One became entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
  7. Loved One humbly asked God to remove their shortcomings.
  8. Loved One made a list of all persons they had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  9. Loved One made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  10. Loved One continued to take personal inventory and when wrong they promptly admitted it.
  11. Loved One sought through prayer and meditation to improve their conscious contact with God as they understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for Loved One and for the power to carry it out.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, Loved One tried to carry out this message to others with the same challenge, and to practice these principles in all of their affairs.
