As for you, Loved One, speak the things which support sound doctrine. That the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience. The older women likewise, that they are reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things. Let them encourage the young wives to love their husbands and their children. To be excellent role models for society, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Likewise, Loved One, encourage young men to develop common sense. Show yourself to be a model of good citizenship, with integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, and sound speech. Don’t give anyone who is an opponent an opportunity to say evil of you, Loved One. Loved One, encourage workers to be obedient to their bosses, to be well-pleasing in all things. No answering back, or wasting time on the job. Showing good qualities, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all. Remember Loved One, to stay away from being self-centered, and live with wisdom and love toward others. Jesus has redeemed you and wants you to be looking for His glorious return and to behave lovingly towards others until then. Loved One, share these things, encourage, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
Remind yourself Loved One, to be subject to rulers and authorities. To be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all people. For you, yourself, Loved One, was once foolish, disobedient, deceived, self-serving, self-focused, self-absorbed, living in envy, full of hate, and hating others.
But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward you, Loved One, appeared, not because of anything you did, but because of His mercy, He saved you. Now, by regenerating you and through the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on you abundantly, you are not only justified, Loved One, and you are an heir according to the hope of eternal life.
These things, Loved One, are for you to affirm constantly. So that those who believe in God (including you, Loved One should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable for everyone.
Loved One, avoid foolish doctrinal disputes, self-righteousness, and bickering about God’s Word. These are worthless and a waste of time. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, Loved One, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.
In closing, Loved One, learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that you may be fruitful. Every one of God’s children wants to give you a hug, Loved One.
Greet those who love you in the faith. Grace be with you, Loved One, Amen.
